June 1, 2009 Mitchell, SD The Corn Palace

We returned to The Corn Palace today and decided that we really did not wish to go inside because all it is is an exhibition center with shops and Wall Drugs was enough for us this trip. We did take a couple of pics of birds eating from the outer walls, which are native corn and wheat products. It is interesting that the pictures are changed every year. The pictures are all made of ears of fresh corn and the designs are wheat. Tomorrow we are traveling to a campground in Pipestone, MN. We will be there for a couple of days or so. From there, we will check out Sioux Falls, SD and Devil's Gulch, in Garretson, SD. I want to see a town with waterfalls running through it and also the spot where Jesse James eluded his chasing posse by urging his horse to leap a wide, deep gorge.
